ARM64 builds use aarch64 in place of x86_64.

Flatpak

The bundle needs the freedesktop runtime from Flathub. Flatpak offers to install it together with PhotoCraft.

flatpak install --user photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run ai.storyteller.photocraft

AppImage

chmod +x photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage
./photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage

The first run registers a launcher icon and menu entry under ~/.local/share so the dock shows the right icon on Wayland. To skip that step:

PHOTOCRAFT_NO_DESKTOP_INTEGRATION=1 ./photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage

Debian and RPM packages

# Debian, Ubuntu
sudo apt install ./photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.deb

# Fedora
sudo dnf install ./photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.rpm

Wayland: drag and drop does not open files yet

On a Wayland session, dropping a file onto the PhotoCraft window does nothing in 0.7.0. This comes from the windowing library the app uses and is tracked by the project. Until it is fixed you can:

  • use File › Open;
  • copy the image in your file manager and paste it with Ctrl+V;
  • start PhotoCraft under XWayland, where drag and drop works:
# native package
WAYLAND_DISPLAY= photocraft

# AppImage
WAYLAND_DISPLAY= ./photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage

# Flatpak
flatpak run --nosocket=wayland --socket=x11 ai.storyteller.photocraft

FreeBSD 14

The release includes a tarball laid out like /usr/local. Install the runtime libraries, then unpack it there.

pkg install libxkbcommon wayland libX11 libXcursor libXrandr libXi libxcb mesa-libs vulkan-loader gtk3 fontconfig freetype2 alsa-lib
tar -xzf photocraft-0.7.0-freebsd-x86_64.tar.gz --strip-components 1 -C /usr/local
