Pick your platform

Which PhotoCraft file should you download?

The first option in each card is the one most people need.

macOS

Disk image (Universal)

Works on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Open the .dmg and drag PhotoCraft into Applications.

  • photocraft-0.7.0-macos-universal.dmg
  • photocraft-cli-0.7.0-macos-universal.zip (command-line tool)

Windows

Installer (64-bit)

For most Windows 10 and 11 PCs. Choose ARM64 for Windows on ARM laptops, or a portable .zip to run without installing.

  • photocraft-0.7.0-windows-x64.msi
  • photocraft-0.7.0-windows-x64-portable.zip
  • photocraft-0.7.0-windows-arm64.msi
  • photocraft-0.7.0-windows-arm64-portable.zip
  • photocraft-0.7.0-windows-x86.msi
  • photocraft-0.7.0-windows-x86-portable.zip

Linux

Flatpak (x86_64)

Sandboxed and distro-independent. The AppImage needs no install; .deb and .rpm suit Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora and openSUSE.

  • photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.flatpak
  • photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage
  • photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.deb
  • photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.rpm
  • photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
  • photocraft-0.7.0-linux-aarch64.* (same formats for ARM64)

Other builds in the same release: photocraft-0.7.0-freebsd-x86_64.tar.gz for FreeBSD 14, photocraft-0.7.0-linux-riscv64.tar.gz, and photocraft-web-0.7.0.zip, the WebAssembly app you can host yourself.

Recommended

Option 1: install with the ArtCraft Launcher

The Launcher is ArtCraft's own installer and updater. It is the route the PhotoCraft team recommends.

  1. 1

    Download the Launcher

Open the official PhotoCraft page and choose Download Launcher. The current Launcher version is 0.2.1.

  2. 2

    Install PhotoCraft from inside it

The Launcher detects your operating system and processor and fetches the matching PhotoCraft build.

  3. 3

    Update with one click

When a new PhotoCraft version ships, the Launcher offers the update. It can also install the other ArtCraft apps.

No launcher

Option 2: download PhotoCraft standalone

Standalone installers add only PhotoCraft. You update by downloading the next release yourself.

  1. 1

    macOS

Download the universal .dmg, open it and drag PhotoCraft to the Applications folder. The app is signed and notarized by Apple.

  2. 2

    Windows

Run the .msi installer for your processor type, or unzip the portable build to any folder and start PhotoCraft from there.

  3. 3

    Linux (Flatpak)

Install the bundle for your user, then launch it. Flatpak offers to install the freedesktop runtime from Flathub if it is missing.

flatpak install --user photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.flatpakflatpak run ai.storyteller.photocraft
  4. 4

    Linux (AppImage)

Mark the file as executable and run it. The first launch adds a menu entry and icon; set PHOTOCRAFT_NO_DESKTOP_INTEGRATION=1 if you do not want that.

    chmod +x photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage./photocraft-0.7.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage

Stay safe

Verify your PhotoCraft download

Each release ships a SHA256SUMS.txt file. Compare its entry with the checksum of the file you downloaded before you run it.

Checksum commands

# macOS and Linuxshasum -a 256 photocraft-0.7.0-macos-universal.dmg# Windows (PowerShell)Get-FileHash photocraft-0.7.0-windows-x64.msi -Algorithm SHA256

If the checksum does not match the line in SHA256SUMS.txt, delete the file and download it again from the official release page.

Before you start

Known issues in PhotoCraft 0.7.0

PhotoCraft is early alpha software. These points are documented by the project itself.

01

Wayland drag and drop

On a Wayland session, files dropped onto the window do not open yet. Use File › Open, paste with Ctrl+V, or start PhotoCraft under XWayland.

02

Alpha stability

Expect rough edges. Save often, keep backups of important PSD files, and report bugs with your OS, document size and layer count.

03

No generative AI

There are no text-to-image or generative fill tools in the app. Use an external tool for that step and bring the result in as a layer.

FAQ

PhotoCraft download questions

The things people ask right before they click download.

Is the PhotoCraft download free?

Yes. Every PhotoCraft build is free, with no trial period and no license key. The code is open source under the Apache-2.0 and MIT licenses.

What is the latest PhotoCraft version?

Version 0.7.0, published on GitHub on October 11, 2026. Check the official page for anything newer, since alpha releases arrive often.

Do I need the ArtCraft Launcher?

No. The Launcher is recommended because it handles updates, but standalone installers work on their own. You can add the Launcher later and it will find your existing PhotoCraft.

Is there a PhotoCraft web version?

The project ships a WebAssembly build (photocraft-web-0.7.0.zip) meant for self-hosting, and documents a Docker setup for it. It is a download you host, not a public web app run by this site.

Does PhotoCraft run on Linux ARM or Windows on ARM?

Yes. Linux ARM64 builds exist in Flatpak, AppImage, .deb, .rpm and tarball form, and Windows on ARM has both an .msi installer and a portable .zip.

Why does this site not host the installers?

Because the only trustworthy copies are the signed files published by the project. Linking to the source also means you always get the current release and its checksums.
